About Visionary!
Rockland High School Winter Guard was formed in 2002 and began its competitive venture in the
N.E.S.B.A. (New England Scholastic Band Association) circuit where winter guards from all over New England come to both compete and be evaluated. A panel of 5 judges score the guards against a criteria a measurements in the categories of equipment, movement, ensemble and general effect.
Between 2002 and 2005, Rockland High School Winter Guard continued to strive for excellence, advancing in classes to continue its competitve goals.
In 2006, Rockland High School Winter Guard broke away from the Rockland Public Schools and became its own independent organization, calling itself Rockland Independent. The organization was now supported by Bandmasters; a non-profit youth program and arts organization.
In 2007, Rockland Independent changed its name to Visionary Winter Guard with the future outlook of becoming unique and original in both its name and show concepts.
Presently, Visionary continues to compete in the N.E.S.B.A. circuit and just recently entered the local winter guard circuit EMASS in 2008.
